Chasing Tails

Created from the ashes of Liquid Courage and Sour Mash Mafia, Chasing Tail is something a little different for me. We are a three piece band, but we're using high-tech stuff like synth guitars, modeling amps, and e-drums (of course!) to be able to do things most three piece bands couldn't. I'm doing a lot more singing in this band, which is new for me, as well.
In over 20 years of professional performance, I have played in a great number of bands. Everything from country, hard rock, classic rock, funk, dance, and pop. These experiences have helped me to shape my own style and be confident in any genre.

Here is a partial listing of bands I have played with:

The Drive
Not to be confused with the current band playing around town, this band was popular in the late 80's. We did classic rock, pop, and new wave. A very unique bar band.

Boulevard
This was an all-original group that played poppish music. This band made a full-length album, but split up before it was released.

Jam Sandwich
Blues, country-rock, classic rock type bar band. This three piece group had some very unique originals for the genre. We played out nearly every weekend.

Phantom
This band played early 90's hard rock. Guns and Roses, older Ozzie Ozbourne, Judas Priest. They were constantly booked and made some decent money.

Loose Change
(Also known as The Change)
One of the more successful bands I've played with, and one of the most talented. This group played out all the time, had a huge following, and was on regular rotation at some of the best clubs in St. Louis. We played a full range of rock genres and did most of it pretty well.

Unstable Tina
This cover band played an eclectic variety of music, from ska to Vaudeville. With a unique horn section and excellent rythm section, they were quite notable in a bizzare sort of way.

Angry Red Planet
This was the original band I played with. Very talented people with a lot of creativity. The drums played a core role in the crafting of the music. One of the few quot;original" bands that were actually doing something original. The attached sound file was our tongue-in-cheek response to the "play some Skynyrd" crowd.

Big Red Switch
One of my favorite bands I've played with was Big Red Switch. They were a good group of guys that combined to make a really great band. We did some regional shows and had a lot of fun doing it. Many factors came together that led to voluntarily disbanding the group.

Twisted Image
Twisted Image was another in the long line of great bands I've had the fortune to play with. Very good musicians and fun guys. We did a pretty good variety of songs and we sounded good on all of it, if I do say so myself.

A curious set of circumstances led me to join forces with former bandmates in The Alley. They were very fun group that put on a great show. We had a solid following and a great repertoire.

Doc Rocks Party Band was a good band and did very well for about two years. It was filled with outstanding, experienced musicians and did a great variety of "party" songs, from disco to modern country.

I really liked Liquid Courage. All bands say they play songs every other band doesn't play, but this one really did and the songs were still songs people wanted to hear and loved. We had a killer light show, a nice P.A. system with in-ear monitors, forward-thinking musicians, and a good club-list. Unfortunately, this town doesn't like bands that do things out of the norm and we struggled against the "Play Some Skynard" crowd. The stress eventually got to some members of the band and we decided to call it quits.

Sour Mash Mafia was a good band with really cool, fun people in it. I enjoyed the band, but unfortunately we just couldn't get any traction. It is a shame because I liked everyone in the band. It just wasn't the most motivated band.
